Beauty and calmness

The relocation of this financial company was a chance to reflect its core values of ‘Transparency, consistency and empathy’. The design reflects these values in the generous space, interiors, joinery and lighting. The lighting design enhances forms, materials and provides definition to the spaces and key visual interest to the occupants.

The lighting has been designed to create spaces for people. At their desks, workers have ample functional lighting without the standard recessed troffers seen in most offices. A circular motif is repeated on walls to provide workers at their desks a visual interest away from their screen. In the community areas, warm colour temperatures combined with table and floor lamps create an inviting atmosphere of beauty and calmness.

Lighting has been used to complement and enhance the materials and the forms, reinforcing the angles and the curves. Small pendants made of natural ceramic are built into the joinery shelves that anchor the space without overpowering the joinery.

The project is targeting 6 Star Green Star rating, and WELL Gold Standard, the lighting design contributes to these by not only considering low energy but how light effects office workers’ health and wellbeing. A welcoming atmosphere that provides ample functional lighting but only consuming 3.5 W/m² of energy.
