Night of Heritage Lighting

Heritage SIGHTS

On the evening of the 1st of October, the Society of Light and Lighting (SLL) celebrated the skills of its members and promoted UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Night of Heritage Lighting illuminated nine UNESCO World Heritage sites within the UK and Ireland, in acknowledgement of the UNESCO International Year of Light 2015 (#IYL2015).

Light4 led a team to illuminate the Liverpool Maritime Mercantile City for the SLL Night of Heritage Light. The scale of the event raised the profile of the International Year of Light and the lit sites demonstrated what can be achieved by the lighting community for our communities.

The installation began at 8am on the day of the event, as dusk set the lighting came to light to present and explain the history and use of the docks. The star of the show was the Dazzle Ship, dazzle by name and dazzle by nature, the lighting reflected perfectly the colour of the paint. At 10pm the lights were switched off and the installation dismantled by midnight.
